Pre-Natal (Pregnancy)

Pre-natal (Pregnancy) & Baby

Pregnancy/Prenatal Massage | Massage for Healing, Roseville CAMany methods of massage and somatic therapies are both effective and safe during the pre-natal and postpardum periods of women's pregnancies. Prenatally, specific techniques can reduce pregnancy discomforts and concerns and enhance the physiological and emotional well-being of both mother and fetus. In the postpartum period, specialized techniques rebalance structure, physiology, and emotions of the new mother and may help her to bond with and care for her infant. Many practitioners require referrals from physicians prior to therapy.

We recommend Bowen Therapy for most prenatal sessions.  Bowen is extremely gentle and has no contraindications for pregnancy.  It is safe and will not harm mother or baby.

Help for Mother to Be
Common pregnancy pains the mother may experience are:
  • Backache
  • I highly recommend Jane and Tanya for anyone needing massage therapy, but especially for anyone who is pregnant. I cannot even imagine going through these nine months without seeing them. - Angela, Lincoln
  • Sciatica
  • Aching legs
  • Headaches
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea / Dizziness
  • Breathlessness
  • Heartburn
  • Decreased energy levels

For Baby After Birth
The birth is one of the most traumatic processes a child will go through. The child is able to have bowen therapy within a day or so after birth. As it is so gentle, the child is barely aware of being treated. Bowen Therapy can also help treat:
  • Infant colic
  • Tongue and neck muscle issues (may cause breastfeeding difficulty)
  • Blue babies
  • Misalignments in the spine due to labor
  • hiccups
Please feel free to call us and discuss your questions and concerns regarding pregnancy and infant issues. We do not recommend massage therapy in the first trimester of pregnancy, however, Bowen Therapy is safe during the full term.
