What does a massage feel like?

It depends on the techniques used during your session. We often use a form of Swedish massage to begin our sessions and relax your tissues. Your session may start with broad, flowing strokes that will help calm your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. As your body becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased to relax specific areas and relieve areas of muscular tension. At this time we may begin integrating our advanced techniques for deeper work into the fascia, tissues and organs. A light, all natural oil combination is used to allow your muscles to be massaged without causing excessive friction to the skin. The oil also also helps hydrate your skin.

You should communicate immediately if you feel any discomfort so that another approach may be taken. Massage and bodywork are most effective when your body is not resisting and your mind is able to relax completely.

When should I have a massage?

Most anytime! Please don't wait until you're stressed or injured. Massage works wonders as preventive care for a person's body and mind. A regular massage is a wonderful way to cope with stress, both physical and emotional, and to keep if from causing discomfort or harm to your body.

If you are a headache or migraine sufferer, it is vital for you to have bodywork before you experience another episode.  Getting bodywork now may decrease the pain, shorten the duration or eliminate your symtoms all together.
