Do I need a half hour or one hour session?

The length of your session can depend on several factors.  If you are having pain in one area and you are seeking relief, a 30 minute session can be very effective.  Our therapist will work the specific area of concern and related areas that may be effected as well.

If you are seeking relaxation as well as pain relief, a one hour session may be a better choice for you.  We can use our advanced techniques on your pain areas and then have extra time to combine swedish strokes and other relaxing techniques to bring the body into relaxation.

Affordability and frequency can also be important factors in deciding your session time.  For some, 30 minute sessions fits better into a budget.  However, we offer discount packages that most of our clients purchase, giving them a deep discount on one hour massages.  Using this discount, many can afford to come for one hour massages once a month, getting the full benefit of each session.

What if I need to cancel?

Cancellation policy / No Shows

24 hour advance notice is required when canceling an appointment, except in cases of illness, emergency or inclement weather or you will be charged 50% of the fee.  Cancellations 23 hours or less will result in a 100% charge.

Anyone who either forgets or consciously chooses to forgo their appointment for whatever reason will be considered a "no-show". They will be charged the full amount for their "missed" appointment and future service will be denied until payment is made.

If you have a gift certificate and are a "no show", your certificate becomes void and unusable.

We often have waiting lists and an advanced notice of cancellation allows us to schedule these clients.

When should I reschedule?

We strongly encourage you to reschedule after your next appointment immediately.  Keeping a regular day and time for your sessions helps you to remember and ensures a great health maintenance program.

What should I do before and after my session?

It is recommended that you drink plenty of water before and after your massage therapy session. By doing this, you make it easier for your muscles to hydrate and give the body plenty of fluids to wash out toxins that are pushed out of the muscles during the massage.

We also recommend that before you start your session, you use the restroom so that you don’t have to interrupt your session.

During your session, slow and deepen your breathing, allowing your body to soften more and more with each exhale.

After your session you may feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days.

Allow yourself a good night’s sleep after your massage and let your body fully regenerate and revitalize.

It is possible you will experience soreness after your session.  The soreness should be similiar to how you feel a few days after a good workout.  If the pain continues or become severe, please contact us immediately.

Many people experience less discomfort in between their sessions as they continue regular massages.  We recommend our clients to keep notes of how they feel mentally and physically in between sessions to remind them how they are improving from their sessions.

What should I expect at my appointment?

Intake form: When you arrive at the office, you will be asked to fill out a brief medical history questionnaire to ensure there is no pre-existing condition that would influence your session.

Information: The therapist will then give you an overview of your session based on the needs you have specified. Feel free to ask any questions about your session or discuss any concerns with your therapist. Remember: this is your massage!

Settling In: The therapist will leave the room so that you may undress to your comfort level and lie comfortably under the sheet and blanket on the table. Except for the region the therapist is working on, you will remain covered the entire time. The therapist will announce when she will enter the room to begin the massage.

Relax: Please inform your therapist of any changes that need to be made in temperature of the room, light level and sound level. Then, relax and enjoy! Good communication is essential to make sure you enjoy your session to the fullest, so be sure to tell your therapist when you would like more or less pressure at any time during your massage. If you say nothing (or snore) then your therapist will assume you are enjoying the session.
