FAQ
What does a massage feel like?
It depends on the techniques used. We often use a form of Swedish massage to begin our sessions. Your session may start with broad, flowing strokes that will help calm your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. As your body becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased to relax specific areas and relieve areas of muscular tension. At this time we may begin integrating our advanced techniques for deeper work into the fascia, tissues and organs. A light, all natural oils are used to allow your muscles to be massaged without causing excessive friction to the skin. The oil also helps hydrate your skin. You should communicate immediately if you feel any discomfort so that another approach may be taken. Massage and bodywork are most effective when your body is not resisting.

What if I need to cancel?

It's no problem if you need to reschedule your appointment.

Should it become necessary to cancel, we do require 24 hours notice. A late cancellation of your appointment may require partial or full payment for the scheduled session.

If you "no-show" on your appointment day and time, you will be billed 50% of your session rate. Payment must be made before your next session can be performed.

We often have waiting lists and an advanced notice of cancellation allows us to schedule these clients.

What should I do before and after my session?
It is recommended that you drink plenty of water before and after your massage therapy session. By doing this, you make it easier for your muscles to hydrate and give the body plenty of fluids to wash out toxins that are pushed out of the muscles during the massage.

We also recommend that before you start your session, you use the restroom so that you don’t have to interrupt your session.

During your session, slow and deepen your breathing, allowing your body to soften more and more with each exhale.

After your session you may feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days.

Allow yourself a good night’s sleep after your massage and let your body fully regenerate and revitalize.

What should I expect at my appointment?
Intake form: When you arrive at the office, you will be asked to fill out a brief medical history questionnaire to ensure there is no pre-existing condition that would influence your session.

Information: The therapist will then give you an overview of your session based on the needs you have specified. Feel free to ask any questions about your session or discuss any concerns with your therapist. Remember: this is your massage!

Settling In: The therapist will leave the room so that you may undress to your comfort level and lie comfortably under the sheet and blanket on the table. Except for the region the therapist is working on, you will remain covered the entire time. The therapist will announce when she will enter the room to begin the massage.

Relax: Please inform your therapist of any changes that need to be made in temperature of the room, light level and sound level. Then, relax and enjoy! Good communication is essential to make sure you enjoy your session to the fullest, so be sure to tell your therapist when you would like more or less pressure at any time during your massage. If you say nothing (or snore) then your therapist will assume you are enjoying the session.

When should I have a massage?
Most anytime! Please don't wait until you're stressed or injured. Massage works wonders as preventive care for a person's body and mind. A regular massage is a wonderful way to cope with stress, both physical and emotional, and to keep if from causing discomfort or harm to your body.
